These Articles of Interest
pages constitute a temporary repository of articles that I — in my wanderings and reading of publications to which I have subscriptions and whose corresponding web sites would require payment and/or registration — found interesting and want to share with my friends.
Out of consideration for my friends and their respective e-mail accounts, the appropriate approach is to afford them the choice to visit these pages. It is a simple and clear alternative to sending out huge attachments each and every time something intrigues or excites me — and yes, I am an easily excitable individual (although, it can be argued that excitability may very well be symptomatic of sheer ennui).
Within are mostly political commentary and news articles that cover or touch topics of a more multi-disciplinary nature or perspective.
It would be only fair to disclose that the primary motivation for these pages is to learn and exercise how to serve up pages on the Web. This is why you will notice constant tweaking here and there.
There are typographical conventions employed within the “Articles of Interest” pages:

Highlighted quotation
The document source has been simplified by heavily employing CSS. In addition, printing these pages suppresses all the graphical elements which lend themselves more to the screen than on paper — all via CSS control.
Articles posted here fall into the “bins” listed below which correspond to the menu tabs on the top of each page.
When sorting the main-article titles, leading definite (“the”) and indefinite (“a, an”) articles are removed and suffixed to the remaining character string to ensure correct sorting.
The “New” and “OnLine” bins will have categories within them so the user is not inundated with monolithic lists. I have used the broadest of categories where possible.
If updates to an already posted entry become available, those may be affixed to the existing entry. Any updates of that variety will, of course, impact the posted-date sequence.
On Sun. 09-Nov-2008, while reviewing the logs it was discovered that quite a few articles were requested way after said articles were dismounted off-line. To address and anticipate such eventuality, it has been decided that when an article is dismounted from now on, a stub PDF file with appropriate instructions for the requesting party will be provided in its stead. This way if the reader is truly interested, they can engage the established protocol of requesting a re-posting of a dismounted article.
Note, however, that place-holder PDF files are left on the web site to facilitate the servicing of search results that yield the names of such articles directly. These place-holder PDF files will each have a hyperlink to e-mail a request for a re-post of the original article.
I am a card-carrying Liberal (Canadian federal and Ontario provincial). Here is a depiction of my political compass.

The frequency with which these documents are updated depends entirely on spare time available to me. So if it seems like the documents have not been updated recently, it is not necessarily indicative of my losing interest. I have completed the automation of documents updating from a database I maintain — a little self-congratulatory huzzah!
It is hoped that your experience here is not altogether unpleasant.
Thanks for visiting with me. If I have helped edify or merely entertain with the content presented in these pages, then it was all worth it. Keep well.
